One goal of all of our Sunday School classes is to

welcomed, valued, and a contributing part of a
Christian community.

Another more subtle goal is to teach a rhythm that they will recognize in our worship service. They to enter the classroom space calmly and gather in a circle around the adult storyteller. Each child is greeted by name, and they are praised for ways they have shared of their time, talent, or treasure the previous week. A candle is lit. A story from scripture unfolds. Each child has an opportunity to internalize that story, or a story from a previous day, through art or play. They gather back into the circle for a feast
(usually crackers and juice).
They say a prayer together, receive a
blessing from the teacher,
and are dismissed at 9:50.
